FLAC
From The Neuros Technology Wiki
Free Lossless Audio Codec or FLAC on the Neuros.
FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec. Grossly oversimplified, FLAC is similar to MP3, but lossless, meaning that audio is compressed in FLAC without any loss in quality. This is similar to how Zip works, except with FLAC you will get much better compression because it is designed specifically for audio, and you can play back compressed FLAC files in your favorite player (or your car or home stereo) just like you would an MP3 file.
According to The Forum Josh Coalson (FLAC's developer) has started work on an integer only FLAC library, which will be most useful for a neuros implementation.
More recently, Sean Starkey, the creator of Neuros Database Manager (NDBM), has undertaken the task of writing FLAC (free lossless audio codec) support to the current Neuros firmware. You can read more about it here, including Starkey's comment on the bottom of that post.
