[edit] Introduction

Formatting your USB, CF or SD cards (henceforth known as 'media') for use with the OSD is simple, once you remember one thing: format as "MS-DOS filesystem". The OSD does not support HFS or its variants.

[edit] Method

  • Plug your chosen media into your Mac.
  • Fire up "Disk Utility". You can find it in your "Applications" -> "Utilities" folder.
  • Select your media in the left pane. Your media is the leftmost icon (usually orange).
  • Click the 'Erase' tab
  • Select "MS-DOS filesystem"

  • Click the 'Erase' button. A confirmation dialog will appear, please read to confirm you are formatting the correct media!

Disk Utility will unmount your drive, format it and remount it when finished.

[edit] Be Careful!

It's too easy to format the wrong media, and it's nigh on impossible to undo.
