allow processes to be started at boot in parallel, ability to start in different runlevels, and give OSD easy modification to applications that are started simply by linking to scripts

Standard linux networking system for controlling networking devices from applications and console. Removes networking/ip configuration from OSD Gui and places control back into the hands of the OS.

Xavante web server plus CGIlua (also known as Kepler framework). Think Apache plus PHP, but without the bloat.

complete IP PBX in software. It runs on a wide variety of operating systems including Linux, Mac OS X, OpenBSD, FreeBSD and Sun Solaris and provides all of the features you would expect from a PBX including many advanced features that are often associated with high end (and high cost) proprietary PBXs. Asterisk® supports Voice over IP in many protocols, and can interoperate with almost all standards-based telephony equipment using relatively inexpensive hardware.
