Rip DVDs for OSD (Linux)
From The Neuros Technology Wiki
[edit] Ripping DVDs to ISO files in Ubuntu
Out of the box, Ubuntu will not rip or play DVDs. However, you can install a package called libdvdread3. You can install it with the command: sudo apt-get install libdvdread3
Once that is done, you need to run (as root) /usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/install-css.sh. Now, you can use brasero to rip most DVDs to a .iso file. Brasero is in the default install under Applications -> Sound&Video
Select Disc Copy
Change "Disc to write to" to "File Image". Click properties. Set the filename and change the directory the file will be written to, if necessary. Click Apply
Click copy
You should have an .iso file within about 45 minutes. The author has found a small number of discs where this process fails, probably due to additional copy-protection, but most of your video library will rip just fine.
[edit] Transcoding for the Neuros
Your Neuros OSD cannot read these .iso files, and so you need to transcode these files to a format recognized by the Neuros.
