Subject: A testimony to the toughness of Neuros (photos attached)

Greetings,

First of all let me thank you for creating a great audio device. I am writing this email to let you know how tough the Neuros actually is.

I am a police officer in North Carolina and I spend most of my 12 hours shifts inside a patrol car. I purchased a Neuros back in April, 2003 so I could listen to all my favorite music while I was working without having to change the stereo in my patrol vehicle. I made a nice little mount on the center console using 2 pieces of velcro. In the interior photo of my car I circled the place where I had it mounted (you can still see the velcro if you look closely). For three months I cruised my beat and praised the 20 GB hard disk on the Neuros for keeping me from having to listen to the same songs repeatedly on the radio.

Then one day in early July, at about 3 a.m., I put the toughness of the Neuros to the test in an extreme way. I was patrolling on a local highway when a red Ford Explorer that was travelling in the opposite lanes suddenly lost control. The Explorer jumped the median and hit my patrol car head-on, while he was still airborne. The Explorer was still travelling about 50-60 mph when it hit me. The Explorer then rolled into the median while my patrol car pretty much stopped where it was hit. My patrol car was totaled and I had to climb over the console and get out of the passenger side. I remember looking at the Neuros as I was climbing out and it was still playing away as if nothing had happened. Keep in mind the collision was hard enough to kill the engine immediately and almost knock the right rear tire off the rim. I had some fellow officers collect my important possessions from my car (including my Neuros) and was transported to the hospital. Surprisingly I suffered only minor injuries and was released from the hospital that night. The driver of the other vehicle was charged with DWI.

The next day I was going through my belongings to see what survived the accident. I got the Neuros out and inspected in closely. As you will see in the photos, the unit did suffer some cosmetic damage from all the glass. There is a noticeable scratch to the right of the control stick. The LCD screen has some scratches on it. There are very small scratches spread out on the rest of the face of the unit. I started the unit up, half expecting to find out that the hard disk would have damage on it. I went back to the album I was listening to when the accident happened and I couldn't believe it, not a single glitch. I have since listened to my Neuros for many hours and have yet to notice any problems.

Sorry about the long email but I had to let you know that this is indeed a quality device, both in its toughness and its performance. Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to the USB 2.0 HD version. I just hope you'll take my scratched up trade in!

Thanks again, Kevin Williams
