[edit] Playing Recorded Files on the PC
See Recorder Complementary Products for software that plays the recorder generated files.
[edit] Using the recorder with a PocketPC PDA
Once you have installed TCPMP on your PDA (PalmOS or PocketPC) there's typically not much more to using it than just popping out the card and inserting it in your PDA.
Here are Instructions on installing TCPMP on a Pocket PC
[edit] Troubleshooting MPEG-4 Recorder on Treo
The first thing you should do is to try to play the file you recorded on your computer (if you haven't already) to make sure there's nothing wrong on that end. If you haven't already done so, here's the G.726 audio codec you'll need to download and install by double-clicking on it:
http://www.codec-download.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=search&query=726
If everything's fine with the file when you play it on your computer, let's take a look at the version of TCPMP you have on your Treo. It may be an earlier addition and more unstable than the current one. Hook your Treo up to your PC to sync it, and then let's uninstall TCPMP by first doing the following:
Open Palm Desktop on your PC
Hit the QUICK INSTALL button
If you see "tcpmp.prc" under "Handheld" or "Expansion Card", click on it (if you don't then just ignore the rest and move on to the next paragraph)
Hit REMOVE (to remove the old version)
You should also delete that tcpmp.prc file from your PC altogether just so there's now confusion when we download the updated program.
Because some Palm's work differently, make sure the application isn't still on your Treo by doing the following on your Treo:
Open the Applications launcher.
Access the Menu launcher.
From the App menu choose Delete.
Tap the name of the application you would like to delete.
Tap on the Delete button. Tap on the Yes button to confirm that you wish to delete the chosen application.
Now, you can download the latest version of TCPMP by clicking on the link below:
http://corecodec.org/frs/download.php/193/tcpmp.palmos.UNSTABLE.0.65.zip
Unzip the file and then doing the following from your PC:
Open Palm Desktop
Hit the QUICK INSTALL button
Click on ADD
Find the new tcpmp.prc file you just downloaded and unzipped
Hit OPEN
The program will now install on your Treo.
