[edit] Stuff about the OSD

These are my old projects on the Neuros OSD. Contact me if you need clarifications/modifications about them

Future plans I had for the OSD, but no longer have time to implement them:

  • Use google calendar as scheduling method.
  • Do "instant recordings" by sending an email to the OSD.

So that was "the good old OSD days".

[edit] Experiments with the Link

I started to take a look at the Link, to see if I really need it (I already have 2 AppleTV...)

I've gone the VM way to test it:

  • I downloaded the new 1.2 Link image, that I put on a usb stick
  • In vmware, I created a new VM of 8 gigs
  • I booted the vm with a linux cd (ubuntu)
  • Once booted, I put the usb stick in my computer, and shared it to the VM
  • I've done a dd if=/dev/sdb of=sda of the Link image
  • Once finished, I rebooted the VM. Voila, Link OS in a vm.
  • I installed vm tools.
  • After that, I used the vmdk disk in virtualbox to make a virtualbox vm (I don't have vmware at home)
  • I booted the virtualbox VM on my mac. Ready to test the link!

Next step, installing a vnc server to control it with my ipod touch

  • Start up the vm. Hit alt-f9 to minimize firefox
  • In applications, start Terminal
  • sudo apt-get install x11vnc
  • x11vnc -passwd blabla
  • On my ipod touch, I bought the application Controlpad
  • I configured my Link in control pad, connected, et voila!
